wow am i glad you posted that! i was going to get some mufflers like that. that hangs waaayyyyy to low! |
Keep in mind it sits 2-3" higher than the piping that has to wrap under there for a dual exhaust to fit (look further up in the picture)... my car is literally 1.5"-2" off the ground right now and doesn't scrape, but I understand your concern. Its also not tucked up as much as it could be and I think that was more of laziness on the muffler center's part vs actual fitment (the exhaust hangers have a LOT of room, they are about 6-8" long). If you look at the guy who built the exhaust I copied, his tucks WAY up there with only the tips sticking out. I got a great deal so I didn't complain.
So keep in mind you tuck the muffler up another 2-3 inches in the bumper, that piping is still in the same spot.

The guys over on Hybrid-Z have been running muffler sets like that for some time in their swaps. Many end up changing the trunk floor to push them up into the body some.
I dont see why you would run case type mufflers if you have a setup like that. Two cylinders could be package much easier. |
I was hoping being that much larger and offset that it would help quiet the car down some vs just some straight through bullet mufflers or something. I am going to wind up putting an X muffler from magnaflow up front, so in the end that's probably what I should have done (x-muffler and dual bullets), but again I heard dude's video with this setup and its awesome, so I just wanted to stick that route. That angle of picture is pretty deceptive on how far off the ground it really is... you can stack two cokes under the rear and just over one under the piping. Granted you're setting your own height, so if you're going to be supa-slammed, that obviously goes out the window. Its just really not as big of a deal as that photo looks. I've never scraped the exhaust, even with these crap coilovers on it...
