I thought I would introduce myself. I'm no stranger in the 240 world. Have had them since I could drive. Have had most motor applications and thought I would try an ls1 out. I've had allot of extreme motor setups and wanted to build one that I could daily drive w/o having to sacrifice drivability.

The goal of this car is to look civilized and be drivable. It seems like most swaps I've had ends up turning into something I'm too afraid to leave in a parking lot or something that becomes a weekend only car because how rough it rides( too low, stiff) or how the engine runs (fuel economy, not enough low end grunt because big turbos) I sound like some of the customers we get sometimes. "I want it quiet, comfortable, same gas mileage yet making XXXXhp power.

With this project I'm going to "TRY" to attempt to build it where the modifications don't compromise its driveabilty. I'm going to retain all options including Air conditioning, Power steering, Cruise Control Stock gauges workings, OBDII for emissions. I believe I can figure out all of this. I have plenty of resources in different aspects to help me figure out what is beyond my abilities.

We'll I havn't made too much progress. Keep in mind I'm doing all this work with common joe tools, and am not using any of our shop tools.

Stock 98 le converted 5spd(i mean 6now) and 5lug/brakes

Stock

Old motor in it 427rwhp

Too much maintainance, my ls1 is going to be plain jane. Since its daily driver.

In the garage

Its a 2001 ws6 motor w/ 54k 6spd. From north Carolina (couldn't find one local

I have to find a use for this thing cause I bought it new. I bought it for my sr originally. I'll eventually add it in with a acusump and oil thermo.

Put it on a stand. Hinson headers. I added V-bands to it, converted the oil pan, and put in the mounts

passenger side mount faces backwards for clearance for compressor

Drivers side faces forward. will need bracket like everyone else's.

Test fitting w/o any brackets made yet
Picked up some material

Since I don't have all the tool resources I have at the shop I had to buy this and that so it was another expense.

Working on the mounts. Plasma helped. But I'm going to pick up a good Chop saw.

Some parts came in. Stoptech 13.2" 4pot's. Textralia Exoskel twin disc

The clutch looks to be good quality. I'm pretty familiar with them in the nissan and other import cars so i decided to keep with them. I was told its a 38 pound setup over a 51pound stock clutch assembly. They say 1200 ft pound of torque its good for and drives good without chatter. The corvette guys rave about them. I looked into quarter master but they have such tight tolerances. Slipping would be bad and I have to slip for daily. Speedbleeder return line, gaskets, rear main,

New wheels came in.

VOLK TE37 white
18x9.5 +12 Bridgestone RE-01R 235/40/18
18x10.5 +15 Bridgestone RE-01R 265/40/18

VERY VERY light wheels. I am still amazed at how light they are.
265 rubber compared to 255 AD032R advans

Got bored and test fitted the fronts on my s13
its funny that their flush for front wheels.

I am going to order some ENKEI RPf1's in smaller sizes so I can ultimately run a comfortable 285-295 rubber for the rear and 255 in front. For road racing.

Thats it for now.
I'll make some progress next weekend since thats the only time i have to work on this.
-Ronald

Since i see a few ppl here using the carshop mounts that i've planned on using, let me ask you guys this: I've got an r33 cross member and i'm wondering if i use that for the swap with the carshop mounts, would i have to make that "extension" off the front of the stock mount location on teh stock 240 cross member?

I haven't started with the swap yet, i'm still waiting on my gto oil pan, and my tr224 cam.

Thanks in advance guys!

What a week. Was helping some friends build a drift car for formula d round 4 here in Washington.

Anyhow, this weekend I'll be back on track with my build

Those mounts are pretty common. Personally I would just use a stock 240 crossmember. Save yourself the buck. Regardless you can do it anyway. Advantages disadvanges oh well.

Wheels are for sale. brand new advan ad032r soft compound 255/40/17 17x8.5 17x9.5 shoot me a pm

AC isn't that hard to wire up. I'll take notes down.

Sold the motor to a friend for our formula d car

Built this car in 5 days.
I stuck my old motor in it. put in a gt2871r .64 trim. I put in my rom tune and made 380rwhp. Kinda weird setup cause it was a high hp motor w/ a t67 so i had to tune it a lil different.
hks 272 cams for a drift car haha.

we qualified 12th unseeded. We ranked 19th at the event. Coming in mid season and keeping up with season vetrans I'm really happy. Some of these guys are factory sponsored and have crazy budgets. Loaned my wheels to them for the event cause falken screwed them over by not bringing 17's along with them. But its all good.
